Procedures for the approval of a proposal for a session-workshop or minisymposium:

1. The Organizer must send us a proposal for the organisation of a session-workshop or minisymposium
2. The Organizer must give us a small description of his/her proposal (no more than 150 words)
3. The Organizer must give us his/her short CV
4. The Organizer must inform us about the procedures which will follow for the promotion of this session-workshop or minisymposium (the Organizer is responsible for the promotion)
5. The Organizer must give us full affiliations of his/hers with an e-mail in which someone can send a paper on the subject of the session-workshop or minisymposium.

After approval the Organizer will be the responsible person for the selection of the papers. The papers must be send to us until 05/06/2007 (Part I) and 28 November (Part II). In the Proceedings of IeCCS 2007 (which
will be published in a Special Volume of the very famous AIP Conference Proceedings) the session-workshop or minisymposium will be in a separate section of the Volume with a Preface written by the organizer. From time to time the organizer must inform us about the participation of his/her session. If a session consists of 6 registrations at least or a symposium consists of 8 registrations at least, then the registration of the organizer in IeCCS 2007 is free.

Important Notice: The authors of the Sessions and Symposia of IeCCS 2007, must send the papers DIRECTLY to the Symposium's or Session's Organizer which is responsible for the selection of the papers of his/her Symposium/Session.

5. Video Signal Processing and Analysis

Organizer: Dr. Ling Shao, Dept. Video Processing & Analysis, Philips Research Laboratories, High Tech Campus 36, Eindhoven 5656 AE, The Netherlands. Tel: +31 402746127, Fax: +31 402742630, E-mail: l.shao@philips.com

Description of the the Symposium:

Today, displays based on liquid crystal (LCD) and plasma (PDP) technologies are getting more and more popular in the consumer markets. Those displays are able to show pictures with good details. However, the source video materials are not always satisfactory, because the source materials are usually down-sampled, corrupted with noise, and compressed. In order to improve the picture quality of source materials, video signal processing algorithms, which are adaptive to particular display types such as TV sets and mobile devices, must be designed. To automatically extract useful information from video materials, video content analysis algorithms should also be investigated. The topics of this symposium include but are not limited to:

1. Sharpness Enhancement
2. Contrast Enhancement
3. Denoising
4. Coding Artifact Reduction
5. Color Enhancement
6. Motion Estimation
7. Compression
8. Video Content Description
9. Video Shot Cut Detection
10. Feature Extraction
11. Pattern Recognition
12. Video Processing and Analysis for Mobile Devices

Call for papers. Please see here

6. Computer Aided Diagnosis in diagnostic imaging

Organizer: Emanuele Neri, M.D., Assistant Professor of Radiology, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, University of Pisa, Italy, E-mail: neri@med.unipi.it

Description of the the Symposium:

CAD is an evolving technology in radiology and is gaining today much more interest than in the past.
In Radiology, there are three main fields of great interest and major progress of this technology:
-CT colonography (computed tomography);
-Lung disease (computed tomography);
-Breast (x-ray mammography and MR mammography)
The CAD is still under development but in some applications has been introduced in the clinical routine. Therefore we expect the participation of computer scientists working on the development of CAD and of medical doctor that could report about the results of CAD in the clinical practice.

7. Generic Differential Quadratures and Related Discrete Element Analysis Methods
